The Ozark Water Mill began operations in 1833, and ran until early 1992.  Located on the Finley River in Ozark Missouri, the first mill was reportedly built by James Kimberling.  It is not known if it was a grist mill, a saw-n-fill, or both.

On August 9, 1837,  Kimberling sold the mill to John Hoover for $200, and the 160 acres on which it was located--for $1.25 per acre. Near the mill was a general merchandise store owned by Jacob Eutsler, and a blacksmith shop owned by a Mr. Eldride. Those three businesses constituted the Ozark settlement's trade center, commonly referred to as Hoovers Mill on Finley. After going through many owners in the next several years, the mill burned in 1921. It was purchased by Leonard Hawkins and rebuilt. In 1939 it burned again, requiring a complete rebuilding, and, at that time, discontinued producing flour thereafter. The mill was sold again in 1988 to Jim Hutshell who continued operation until 1992.
